    Swim Team FAQ

When are practices and meets? The first practice of the season is on June 1, 2026. Practices are everyday M-F. Ages 13+ have practice at 9am. Ages 9 -12 have practice at 10am. Ages 8 and under practice at 11am. Meets are Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

What can I expect on the first day of practice? Arrive at your swimmer's designated time. All you have to do is stop by the front table to pick up your gear and throw your kid in the water.

    ● Speaking of gear- Please write your last name in ALL your gear. We all have the same t-shirts, suits and caps. PLEASE. It will make it so much easier to return it to you if it gets misplaced.

My kid has other commitments. What if we can't make every practice? We understand completely. It's summer. There are vacations and summer school and school sports and marching band practices to consider. We need an accurate count for meets so that Coach Grace can make the heat sheets. Your swimmer needs to swim in two dual meets in order to be eligible to swim for conference.

Is it too late to order gear? Nope. Tell me what you want and I'll send you an invoice.

Where will the meets be held?

    ● Beech Grove High School 5330 Hornet Avenue Beech Grove 46107

    ● Carefree- 1202 Leisure Lane Greenwood, IN 46142 (BIG POOL, little parking lot.)

    ● Devon Country Club- 4600 Millersville Road Indpls IN 46226 (weird entrance, I pass it every time.)

    ● Chapel Glen- 640 Lansdowne Rd. Indpls. IN (the pool with 1,000 steps.)

What time should we arrive for meets? Arrive at 5 for home and 5:30 away meets. We have wrist writing and warm-ups to do.

    ● When does my swimmer get the ribbons from the meets? You can pick up the ribbons from the ribbon box on Fridays.

How do I volunteer at a swim meet? We can't do meets without volunteers. The expectation is that you volunteer.

Meets are long, chaotic and super fun.

My child has special needs. Can you accommodate us? I am so happy every time I get this question. Listen. Our head coach is an elementary school teacher. Our assistant coach is an (award-winning) adaptive PE teacher. I am a licensed SPED/OELteacher. We got you. We work really hard to be a safe place for ALL people. Inclusion is the goal. If you have specific concerns or feel there are physical considerations, behavioral supports or general health issues we need to be mindful of, just email me and we will make modifications accordingly. We got you.

What happens in bad weather? We don't cancel for rain. We cancel when there is thunder/lightning. We often do not cancel until the VERRRRRRY last minute. In the event that we do have thunder and/or it is just too cold.

I have something I need to talk about, but you didn't address it here. No problem. They don't call me "Fearless Leader" for nuthin'. If your order wasn't right, if you will miss practices, if you will miss a meet, if your kid left his entire wardrobe at the last meet, if you can't find ribbons, need goggles or whatever- email me, chat me on FB Messenger, or face-to-face IRL every single day from 9-12 at the pool. I sit at the front table every day and talk to moms and sometimes do work. Mostly, I just talk. Come sit with me. I probably have snacks.

You probably can't tell, but I'm a little excited for swim season. (!)
